Low-molecular-weight heparin for 7 days was more effective than compression stockings for preventing DVT in knee arthroscopy.

Main results The 7-day LMWH group had lower incidences of the primary and secondary efficacy endpoints than did the GCS group (Table). The 7-day LMWH and GCS groups did not differ for either safety endpoint. Results for the 14-day LMWH group are not presented because the trial was stopped prematurely for this group based on safety concerns. Conclusion Low-molecular-weight heparin for 7 days was more effective than graduated compression stockings for preventing deep venous thrombosis in patients having knee arthroscopy.
